Tim Gearhart a member of the Joe Gibbs racing team holds a B.S. degree in Exercise Physiology from Penn State, where he also played football and was a member of the 1987 National Championship team. Tim was a student of his then Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Chet Furman and his assistant, Chip Morton. Chet and Chip both moved on to distinguished careers in the NFL, and have become two of the most respected authoriites in the strength and conditioning profession.
After his football career was over and with the influence of his good friend Coach John Philbin, Tim decided to try the sport of Bobsled. He learned a lot during those four years by training with and competing against some of the strongest, fastest, and most explosive athletes in the world. After suffering a serious hamstring tear preparing for the 1998 Olympic Team Trials, he decided to go into business for himself. Tim spent the next several years building National Fitness Consultants, Inc., a personal training/fitness equipment service and consulting business in the Washington, DC area. Tim also credits Dan Riley, the current Head Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Houston Texans, and formerly of the Washington Redskins. Every individual mentioned above, as well as countless others in the industry credit Coach Riley as a major influence in their career and education. The training principles and techniques perfected by Dan over the years are the basis for many college and professional strength and conditioning programs in use today.
